Adaptivity

"We believe that our Blueprint4ITTM Design Suite will radically transform the business of IT and create a sustainable competitive advantage for our clients and partners." – Tony Bishop, Founder & CEO

Adaptivity is transforming the "art" of applying information technology into a design science for the purpose of aligning business and IT execution. The intersection of business with IT is directly linked to how business processes execute across their value chain and how IT systems are engineered to support this execution flow.

Adaptivity has created a repeatable design formula based on hard data to make smart design optimization decisions. Our software platform incorporates the multiple dimensions of science (economics, physics, and management science) to systematically model, build and run optimized IT systems. The software documents these decisions in the form of tailored blueprints.

The software creates “Tailored Blueprints” (i.e., Just like constructing or renovating a building with architecture, structural, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, detailed in the blueprint) which prescriptively (think Yellow Book Guides for Dummies) outline what changes are necessary to optimize or build the IT system for optimal business execution performance.

Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Built upon the same world-class technology that powers Amazon.com, Amazon Web Services (AWS) provides businesses with a reliable, easy-to-scale, low-cost computing platform “in the cloud.” Companies of all sizes, from all around the globe use AWS to build websites, store data, manage business processes and more.
AppZero

AppZero software virtualizes Windows and Unix server applications for nearly instant provisioning as services across a network, on any server (physical or virtual), in the datacenter or in the cloud. First to market with a toolset for virtualizing server-side applications, AppZero has pioneered the Virtual Application Appliance (VAA), in which an application is encapsulated with all of its dependencies -- but without any operating system (OS) component. The result is server applications that are 100% portable with zero footprint and performance near native levels. For enterprises and ISVs intrigued by the capital-free potential of pay-as-you-go-computing, AppZero provides a smooth on-ramp to the cloud without any cloud lock-in. Requiring no modification to existing applications, AppZero makes it technically easy and economically sensible to explore and exploit cloud computing.

Microsoft cloud services are Microsoft by extension: Giving you the ability to make full use of the same Microsoft technologies you already know and trust, on a pay-as-you-go model. For a single department or an entire global organization. On-premises, offpremises, or a combination of both, depending on your business needs.

Microsoft cloud services are Microsoft as a utility, but it is more than plugging into a utility. It’s the applications you know, the platforms you know, and a data center infrastructure—all working together in a cohesive whole. It’s Microsoft when you need it. Microsoft on your terms.

“There is a common view among media and analysts that the cloud computing market will see rapid growth in the foreseeable future,” observed Alex Mei, Executive VP and CMO of OCZ Technology Group, in this exclusive Q&A with Cloud Expo Conference Chair Jeremy Geelan. “Companies will need to adapt quickly to these fast changing conditions as cloud computing continues to mature to meet the demands of IT and ultimately end users,” Mei concluded. Cloud Computing Journal: Agree or disagree? – "While the IT savings aspect is compelling, the strongest benefit of cloud computing is how it enhances business agility." Alex Mei: Agree. While driving down the costs associated with IT is certainly an important factor of cloud computing, the ability to create new ways for users to interact and access their data over the cloud is changing the very way that businesses can operate. The fact that cloud co...

ForeScout Technologies has introduced ForeScout Mobile, a set of plug-in modules to enable Android and iOS security management, as well as a plug-in module for mobile device management (MDM) integration. By combining ForeScout Mobile as an add-on to ForeScout CounterACT, the company’s network access control (NAC) platform, security professionals can use one console for visibility and uniform control over managed and unmanaged mobile and PC devices. According to IDC, 40.7% of the devices used by information workers to access business applications are ones they own themselves including home PCs, smartphones and tablets like the iPad. Evidently organizations underestimate the number of information workers using consumer devices for work by 50%. In a recent North American survey by the Boston Research Group, 78% of the IT security professionals surveyed believe that network access contr...
HP turned in its fiscal Q1 numbers Wednesday and they ain’t pretty. Except for software, something HP ain’t exactly famous for, the details are a litany of declining sales. Revenues from its Personal System Group dropped 15% en toto, its commercial PC sales off 7% and its consumer PC sales off a worse 25%. Desktops were down 19%, notebooks 18%. Printer revenues, its traditional goldmine, dropped 7% with commercial off 5% and consumer off 15%. Industry standard server revenues dropped 11%, Business Critical Systems were down 27%, storage was down 6%. Networking revenues were flat. Software revenues, including what its mammoth Autonomy acquisition contributed, were up 30% because licenses were up 12%, support 22% and services a happy 108%. With all the down arrows it’s hard to understand how HP managed to come pretty close to Wall Street’s downwardly adjusted revenue expe...
As more enterprises are adopting clouds, the nature of cloud computing is changing. Previously, clouds were used to test applications or for non-mission critical applications. Today, enterprises are using clouds for cost-saving advantages and launching more mission critical applications that have defined performance needs. In his session at the 10th International Cloud Expo, Eric Shepcaro, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Telx, will discuss how distributed computing has many advantages. It would allow organizations to have a cloud at various data centers instead of one cloud at one datacenter. Costs are reduced significantly since one big Internet pipe is not needed.
Virtualization and private cloud are good for server consolidation, creating flexible environments, and saving IT budget dollars. A recent survey of 1200 companies with 500+ employees showed that 59% had server virtualization in production or pilot. But that doesn’t tell the whole story. In his session at the 10th International Cloud Expo, Dave Asprey, VP of Cloud Security at Trend Micro, will explain the types of situations when you should consider not virtualizing some of your applications. Reasons range from technical to legal to IT ops to politics to finances. Attend this session, and hear a true IT insider’s guide to the truth about virtualization.
Hardware and chemistry improvements will make the $1,000 human genome a reality soon. While the massive amount of genomics data that will be generated represents a huge opportunity to advance personal medicine, it also presents an enormous big data challenge. In his session at the 10th International Cloud Expo, Dr Andreas Sundquist, CEO of DNAnexus, will discuss how the cloud will address these issues by enabling the management, storage, sharing and analysis of the world’s DNA data and how it will impact healthcare across the globe.
The Platform as a Service (PaaS) market grew out of the fact that no other cloud solution addressed the ever-increasing complexity of managing and writing modern applications: no frameworks, libraries or APIs alone could tackle the sticky application engineering challenges. Unfortunately, PaaS 1.0 is what people are now seeing as strictly a “tool” to easily deploy apps to the infrastructure in a self-service way with little or no differentiation among offerings. However, in order for PaaS to reach its full potential and become the modern day abstraction layer for software delivery, we must enter the PaaS 2.0 phase. In his session at the 10th International Cloud Expo, Sinclair Schuller, Co-Founder & CEO of Apprenda, will explain how organizations are currently using PaaS, where PaaS is evolving to, and highlight best practices to maximize the value of existing investments when adopting ...
Hadoop, MapReduce, Hive, Hbase, Lucene, Solr? The only thing growing faster than enterprise data these days is the landscape of big data tools. These tools, which are designed to help organizations turn big data into opportunities, are gaining deeper insight into massive volumes of information. A recent Gartner report predicts that enterprise data will increase by 650% over the next five years, which means that the time is now for IT decision makers to determine which big data tools are the best – and most cost-effective – for their organization. In his session at the 10th International Cloud Expo, David Lucas, Chief Strategy Officer at GCE, will run through what enterprises really need to know about the growing set of big data tools – including those being leveraged by organizations today as well as the new and innovative tools just arriving on the scene. He will also help attendees ga...

Did you know that ninety percent of the data in the world has been created in the last two years? Every day, we create 2.5 quintillion (or 2.518) bytes of data, according to IBM. As corporations across all industries globally are struggling with how to retain, aggregate and analyze this mounting volume of what the industry refers to as Big Data, it also provides a unique opportunity for innovative startups that recognize the business prospects Big Data presents. Big Data is not just unlocking new information but new sources of economic and business value. Interactivity is driving Big Data, with people and machines both consuming and creating it. Digital companies focused on becoming good at aggregating and analyzing the data created by the end users of their product, who then provide their customers with solid insights taken from that data are at a distinct competitive advantage over others in the marketplace.

Cloud computing is becoming one of the next industry buzz words. It joins the ranks of terms including: grid computing, utility computing, virtualization, clustering, etc. Cloud computing overlaps some of the concepts of distributed, grid and utility computing, however it does have its own meaning if contextually used correctly. The conceptual overlap is partly due to technology changes, usages and implementations over the years. Trends in usage of the terms from Google searches shows Cloud Computing is a relatively new term introduced in the past year. There has also been a decline in general interest of Grid, Utility and Distributed computing. Likely they will be around in usage for quit a while to come. But Cloud computing has become the new buzz word driven largely by marketing and service offerings from big corporate players like Google, IBM and Amazon.

"10th Cloud Expo is trending to be both the biggest ever and the best-attended event in the international Cloud Expo series to date, so it is only natural that we should be holding it in the biggest and best conference venue anywhere on the East Coast, the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center," stated Carmen Gonzalez, CEO of Cloud Expo. "If you are not at Cloud Expo New York, June 11-14, at the Javits Center, then you risk not getting the relevant parts of your IT infrastructure into the Cloud in time."

The conflation of “pay-as-you-grow” with “on-demand” tends to cause confusion in the realm of networking and hardware.
