Sysadmin Faster Integration of Existing Systems and Identity Management Software
Faster Integration of Existing Systems and Identity Management Software
Apr. 8, 2005 08:00 AM
BERLIN, April 8 /PRNewswire/ --
- SAM uConnect Speeds up Introduction of Identity Management
Projects
Beta Systems Software AG (ISIN DE 0005224406), headquartered in Berlin,
has announced that the connector technology in the new Version 3.3 of the
Identity Management Software SAM Jupiter has been expanded by the addition of
a number of significant functions: With the new connector SAM uConnect, it is
possible to integrate a company's sensitive access control systems even more
rapidly under the umbrella of an automated user and rights management system.
Identity Management (IdM) and User Provisioning solutions aim
significantly to cut the cost of user administration and help desk
facilities, and enhance security levels right across a company thanks to the
proper and coherent management of security settings.
For a rapid Return on Investment (ROI) the swift integration of IdM
systems with the systems and user directories to be administered is critical.
Until now, however, it is precisely the integration of customer-specific
systems which has frequently taken up so much unnecessary time. Now,
customers and systems integrators can link their own systems to the Identity
Management tool SAM Jupiter in just a few days. A simple plug-in module or a
script with the target system commands provides the link to the target system
in this case.
"The new SAM uConnect functions allow us to integrate the numerous
applications of our customer in an efficient way", says Andrea Multari,
project manager from accenture who is implementing SAM Jupiter at a large
East European bank.
"A rapid ROI and the efficient administration of user management tasks
are requirements that today's IT departments have to meet", according to
David Ferré, Vice President and head of the Data Center Management division
at Beta Systems. "Thanks to these new developments our customers can cut the
implementation costs for their IdM system, and integrate their own target
systems themselves with minimal outlay."
As well as SAM uConnect, Beta Systems offers further standard connectors,
for example for managing Windows, RACF, ACF2, TopSecret, SAP or Unix. The
functional scope enables the centralized monitoring of a wide range of
security attributes, and makes a crucial contribution to compliance with
security provisions and standards such as Basel II, Sarbanes-Oxley or ISO
17799.

Midsize businesses are turning to IT investments to grow their businesses and the larger the organization, the more likely it is to cite technology as having the greatest potential to increase productivity, according to a new survey of midmarket companies by Deloitte.
The study shows cloud computing emerging as an investment priority. When asked what types of investments companies were likely to make in technology, 40 of the respondents cited cloud computing. That's close to automation of business processes (46 percent) and data analytics (41 percent), according to eWEEK.

Every day, we create 2.5 quintillion (or 2.518) bytes of data, according to IBM.
As corporations across all industries globally are struggling with how to retain, aggregate and analyze this mounting volume of what the industry refers to as Big Data, it also provides a unique opportunity for innovative startups that recognize the business prospects Big Data presents. Big Data is not just unlocking new information but new sources of economic and business value.
Interactivity is driving Big Data, with people and machines both consuming and creating it. Digital companies focused on becoming good at aggregating and analyzing the data created by the end users of their product, who then provide their customers with solid insights taken from that data are at a distinct competitive advantage over others in the marketplace. Cloud computing overlaps some of the concepts of distributed, grid and utility computing, however it does have its own meaning if contextually used correctly. The conceptual overlap is partly due to technology changes, usages and implementations over the years.
Trends in usage of the terms from Google searches shows Cloud Computing is a relatively new term introduced in the past year. There has also been a decline in general interest of Grid, Utility and Distributed computing.
